What is Sorare?
What is Sorare? If you like soccer and video games, you have probably already played Fifa and its Ultimate Team mode. Sorare is also cards (NFT), it's also soccer, but it's much more interesting gameplay.
Sorare is a game in which players buy, sell, trade and manage their virtual team using real digital player cards. Sorare uses blockchain technology by leveraging the Ethereum platform. The project was born in 2018 from the idea of Nicolas Julia and Adrien Montfort. You don't control the team like in a soccer game, but your result is based on the real life performance of the players.
Sorare is a blockchain-based fantasy soccer game where you can be rewarded for building your team, participating in virtual tournaments and trading virtual trading cards.
All you have to do is pick your favorite team and get rewarded when your players perform well in real life. With thousands of dollars to be won every week in the various competitions available, it's probably time to take a closer look at the dynamics of fantasy soccer.
How does Sorare work?
Sorare tries to offer a significantly different approach to regular fantasy soccer. Sure, you could say it's still a fantasy soccer game, but instead of simply picking player names from a list of those who play in a certain league (for example, Liga Santander), users must first collect or purchase the respective digital collectible cards of the players they intend to field on their team, and with them, compete against other fantasy soccer fans. These player cards are actually "tokenized" on the Ethereum blockchain. This is called an NFT.
In traditional fantasy soccer or fantasy sports experiences in general, users select their favorite professional players and set their weekly lineups. In doing so, they are able to collect game points for each performance that the chosen players then perform on the field during the game week, in hopes of collecting more points than other fantasy managers.
Owning these cards as non-fungible tokens (NFT) allows them to be freely sold as if they were real crypto-currencies, making this mechanism the beating heart of the fantasy experience Sorare offers. There are several prizes to be won for each competition you enter, both in the form of crypto-currencies and in the form of rare and valuable cards to add to your collection.
Why are Sorare NFTs?
All of your players' cards are identified as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which means that there is only a fixed, predetermined number of cards for each player.
NFTs are tokens that we can use to represent ownership of any object. Whether it's art, real estate or even trading cards. This type of innovative technology is able to give a single owner at a time ownership of a certain object, both physical and virtual, and this unique identification is kept safe by the various platforms that support smart contracts (digital contracts that leverage blockchain technology to thwart any type of alteration or infringement of an NFT's ownership).
NFT stands for non-fungible token. Non-fungible is a technical term used to describe any object for which there is no other simple equivalent. In contrast, so-called fungible objects are defined exclusively by their membership in a genus composed of many other objects that are equal to each other.
FAQ
Can you play for free?
Yes, you can play for free! Sorare gives you common NFTs to get used to the site and understand the game. With these cards, you can participate in the Casual League. This league, originally limited to a maximum of 8 days, is now open continuously. You can participate with the 12 common cards offered by Sorare. If you achieve a good score you can either win more common cards, or why not a limited card that you can trade at a good price, or even participate in a division 4 competition if you manage to collect at least 4 rare cards (+1 common).
Can I earn cards without paying ?
There are many ways to earn cards for free on Sorare, but it is very difficult to win cards that can be sold on the market.
Firstly, with the Casual league,: If you manage to achieve a good score with common cards offered by Sorare, you can manage to get a nice prize such as a limited card. This is totally feasible, as Sorare usually offers you "big" common cards (Lewandowski, Mbappe, etc).
So it is possible to get a big score in the Casual League, however, the competition is extremely high. More than 70k players regiter a team in the Casual League.

Win cards on partner sites: Some Sorare partner sites offer small weekly tournaments in which you can win Limited version cards.
You can also visit the OneShotLeague from Ubisoft. On this site you will only play with cards of players from the Jupiler Pro League (Belgian Championship). So you don't have to pay for them.
Why should I play Sorare?
It's fun: Live the game like never before by owning a Sorare NFT.
You can win amazing prizes. Some players win prizes worth more than €10k every months.
What is the Ethereum used for?
It is the "currency" of the game. It is used to buy a Sorare NFT. But it will also serve as a reward that you can then reinvest or even withdraw to your bank account or crypto wallet if you need it. Like any crypto-currency, ETH is subject to market volatility and therefore its price can fluctuate from day to day. Keep this in mind when buying Ether.
You don't buy a crypto or a stock when its price is at its highest point, but rather when it is on a downward curve. This avoids losing money unnecessarily. (NFA) To follow the price of Ethereum, you can go to a site like Coinmarketcap
Is there a crypto, a coin or a Token?
For the moment, there are now coins, crypto or token associated with Sorare. However, as the game is evolving very quickly, it would not be a bug surprise if we see such releases in the next few month.
